The Pavlychenko Folklorique Ensemble is a dynamic Ukrainian dance company based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, CANADA. This exciting troupe of young, dedicated dancers can stimulate nostalgia, create a comedic scene, dazzle you with intricate high velocity footwork, and amaze you with their lyrical quality. They have performed extensively throughout Saskatchewan, from the Canadian Pacific to Atlantic coasts, the USA, Ukraine, and Brazil.

Miss Lusia Pavlychenko

Established in 1967 by Miss Lusia Pavlychenko (1933 - 2012), the ensemble has successfully reflected Ukrainian culture and tradition in the beauty of the performing art of dance. The ensemble's uniqueness is derived from the marriage of the Canadian experience and traditional Ukrainian roots.

Pavlychenko's repertoire consists of dances from the regions of Central Ukraine, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Bukovyna, Hutsulia, Polissia, and Podillia.

Audiences everywhere have come to expect top-notch performances form the Pavlychenko Folklorique Ensemble, and are never disappointed. Presently under the artistic direction of Serhij Koroliuk, Pavlychenko continues to be innovative and astounding in the dance world. Mr. Koroliuk offers a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the troupe - from broad, sweeping movements of the Steppes, to the highly acrobatic jumps of the Carpathian region, to the incredibly syncopated rhythms of Bukovyna.

Pavlychenko's rich and colorful repertoire is enjoyed both locally and abroad. They perform extensively in their home province of Saskatchewan through the Saskatchewan Arts Council Tour and invitational shows. They are favorites at conventions, concerts, and unique occasions. One of these being the visit by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, to Canada in the spring of 2001. They are very popular as regular performers at large scale social events like Saskatoon's Vesna Festival, Folkfest, and Hopak in the Park in Edmonton, Alberta, and Canada's National Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin, Manitoba. These have established the Pavlychenko Folklorique Ensemble as one of Saskatchewan's premiere performing groups. Pavlychenko has had the honor of performing with such distinguished groups as The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada, Saskatoon Symphony, Lastiwka Ukrainian Youth Choir, International Brass Band of Ottawa, and Burya of Toronto.
